    Bringing people to Christ

The story of the paralytic lowered through the roof to see Jesus...

The beauty of the story is not only how Jesus healed the paralytic, but it was how the man got there. Imagine, the house where Jesus was was overflowing with people and a group of men, maybe they were friends or from the same community, really desired for this man to be healed. And their faith was so strong in Him that they believed if they could just place this man in the presence of Jesus, he would be healed. So they go to the extreme of climbing the roof with the paralyzed man, tearing up the roof, and lowering him down before Jesus...crazy! What selflessness and love these men showed for a friend. Jesus then graciously responds by giving the man the greatest healing one can receive, forgiveness of his sins. Neither the man nor his friends ever asked for such healing, maybe they along with those surrounding him didn't even know one could be restored in such peace and grace with the Lord. And then of course He heals the man physically.

God is so good to those who are faithful...why not share that goodness with those who lack faith. When we pray for others we are like those men presenting the paralytic to Christ. The greatest prayer we can give them is healing. When we ask for prayers we are like the paralytic, entrusting ourselves in the hands of others to help bring us back to Him.
I'm blessed to be surrounded by people that would do just that for me and I'd gladly return the favor.

  • Green...hope...change

This past weekend we took part in the "Go Green Expo" at the LA Convention Center.

    Lil History..
Upon being laid off last August, my Dad decided to open a business selling electric bicycles, EZ Green Bikes (www.ezgreenbikes.com). Basically, they are bicycles that have a motor that runs off a battery, a great alternative to driving a car to work or school or running errands....have to give my spiel of course. Anyway, the "Green" market or community was an interest group we hadn't tapped yet as target for our e-bikes, so this was a great opportunity for us in such short notice (which is another story in itself, a good Jesus story).

    Green = Hope
The presidential campaigns last year united the country in the undeniable need for change. Obama's campaign really pinpointed this need, perhaps even opened eyes to the urgency of this need for change. Hope was instilled in our country. And as the newly elected president was inaugurated earlier this week, hope remains and change seems with in our grasp.

What does this have to do with Going Green? Well, it was my first time at such a gathering and I was just really inspired to see all these people/companies getting together for one purpose, one cause. Part of the change needed is to recognize how we are living now affects how future generations will live in the future in regards to resources and preserving God's creation. It's a lesson of accountability, selflessness, and simplicity. Not only were these people doing their part in saving the environment but they are about encouraging and showing others how they can do their part. With all the creative and innovative things/ideas at this convention and the vibe of the people there, it seemed like change is on its way...it just needs to get to the masses.

So do your part in being "Green", start small even but just do it. Its as simple as bringing reusable bags when you go to the grocery stores (sometimes you get discounts too) or, even easier, don't get receipts from the ATM or gas pump if you don't need em....simple right?

  • This Lenten Season 2008.....

As I kept hearing that Lent was starting soon, for some reason I was excited.  For me, it's the time when I return to God, become more aware/focused on Him as I do the 40 day fast that we offer up to Him.  This season is about conversion and denying ourselves....the ashes we receive remind us that we are not of this world.."ashes to ashes, dust to dust", we belong to God and should make extra effort to purify/improve ourselves for Him.  The great part is that we do not do this alone, we go through this conversion/journey as a church, a body, a community, a Household.  I will definitely be praying for each of you, that through this Lenten Season, you allow God to really work in you.  That you rely on Him for strength and grace.  And through your personal journey through these next 40 days, you will experience your own Calvary and rise anew/revived in your faith and Love for God.

I wrote this for my HH...but extend it out to you too.
    God Bless

  • Sports!

Today I watched Preseason Football - Colts vs. Dallas Cowboys.....and LA Galaxy who lost to United DC, but its ok, Beckham finally had his debut on the field.  Everytime he took his shirt off, crowd went bananas.  The reporter said, its as if the Beatles came back to life.

Back to Dallas Cowboys, can someone take me to the Stadium while I'm in town?  Although I wish the New Stadium was finished already.

    Happy Birthday Fellow Beckham fan
